The University of Eastern Finland is our country’s most multidisciplinary science university

The University of Eastern Finland is Finland’s most multidisciplinary science university. The university carries out world-leading research in photonics, forestry and software development, and it offers nearly 100 major subjects. The University of Eastern Finland has over 16,000 students and more than 2,750 employees.

The University of Eastern Finland has four faculties:

  • Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies
  • Faculty of Science and Forestry
  • Faculty of Health Sciences
  • Philosophical Faculty

Karelia University of Applied Sciences cooperates across educational fields

Karelia UAS is a multidisciplinary organisation that collaborates across the traditional educational sectors. The campuses have Centres of Expertise that combine studying with working life and research and development activities. Karelia UAS has two campuses in Joensuu. At Karelia UAS, there are nearly 4,000 students, of which almost 300 are international students, and there are more than 300 employees.

Riveria is one of the largest providers of professional education in Finland

The North Karelia Municipal Education and Training Consortium Riveria is one of Finland's largest and most successful providers of vocational education and training. Riveria offers as many as 100 different vocational qualifications in different fields of education. The training centres are in Joensuu, Kitee, Lieksa, Nurmes, Outokumpu and Valtimo. The majority of graduates find employment or start a business in North Karelia. There are about 14,500 students and 700 staff members at Riveria.
