Business Joensuu helps companies take the next step—whether it is developing a business idea, finding a new direction, growing, expanding internationally, making investments, or establishing a presence in the Joensuu region.

Business Joensuu is the regional business development company owned by the City of Joensuu. We work alongside businesses at every stage of their journey—helping them start, develop, and grow their operations, connect with valuable networks, and access funding, talent, and new growth opportunities. When companies are considering investing in or establishing operations in the Joensuu region or Central Karelia, we help them find suitable business locations and premises, settle into the region, and create the conditions for sustainable growth.

Business Joensuu’s business, investment, and relocation services are available to companies operating in Joensuu, Heinävesi, Ilomantsi, Kitee, Liperi, Outokumpu, Polvijärvi, Rääkkylä, and Tohmajärvi, as well as to companies planning to establish operations or invest in the region.

Business Joensuu Board of Directors
The owner of Business Joensuu, the City of Joensuu, appoints the company’s Board of Directors. Board members bring broad expertise, strategic insight, and valuable networks from business, entrepreneurship, education, employment, regional development, and public decision-making.

Projects Supporting Business Development and Growth

We Are a Green Office
Business Joensuu is a WWF Green Office certified workplace.
WWF Green Office is an environmental management system developed by World Wide Fund for Nature, helping workplaces reduce their environmental impact, achieve cost savings, and contribute to climate action.

Security
Security at Joensuu Science Park is managed by the security team of Business Joensuu, the owner of the Science Park facilities. The team has established a security policy that defines security objectives, responsibilities, and operating practices.
Security is an essential part of Business Joensuu’s strategy and service quality. It is fully integrated into daily operations. The diverse needs of tenants, customers, and partners set high standards for security management and continuous development.
The Security Manager of Joensuu Science Park is Mikko Naakka.
Key Responsibilities of the Security Team
- Defining security policies and principles
- Setting security objectives
- Developing operational models and procedures
- Planning and monitoring operational security activities
- Preparing security guidelines and documentation
- Organising and coordinating security operations
The security team operates directly under the management of Business Joensuu. The management team approves security policies, principles, objectives, and action plans, which are then implemented as part of normal operations across different areas of responsibility.
The security team meets three times a year, or whenever needed.
