Metal- and plastic industry

The metal industry in the Joensuu region serves the world’s largest forest machine factory, and a top-notch supplier network has evolved around it in the area. This network, originally created to support export companies, operates in a versatile manner, from product and equipment design through various work stages (including sheet metal work, edge-cutting, welding, machining, surface treatment) to an assembled and tested final product.

Perlos has been active in Joensuu for over three decades which has laid a strong foundation for the area's expertise in the plastic sector. These days, the plastic industry offers highly developed health care products as well as composite products and injection moulds. The plastic industry is growing rapidly in the Joensuu region, and expertise can be found both for the design and the manufacture of moulds and end products. 

Today, over 30 companies in the plastic industry have established their business in the Joensuu region and together they employ over 1500 people. The plastic and metal industry produces both modern forest machines and products for the needs of the pharmaceutical industry and the health care sector.

Around 60-70% of the plastic products made in the Joensuu region are exported. The companies manufacture highly developed health care products as well as composite products and injection moulds. The plastic industry is growing rapidly in the Joensuu region, and expertise can be found from design to the manufacture of moulds and final products.
