Business speeds up as tourists slow down in North Karelia

VisitKarelia

The VisitKarelia team at Business Joensuu is responsible for the regional development and marketing of tourism in North Karelia, for both domestic and international customers. Close collaboration is maintained with the entire Lake Finland region as well as Visit Finland.

North Karelia is Finland's easternmost province, where travelers encounter a hospitable culture along with the serene tranquility of magnificent hillscapes and lakes. The region provides excellent opportunities for tourism businesses throughout the year.

Our provincial capital, Joensuu, is a lively student city through which the Pielisjoki River flows into Lake Pyhäselkä at the southern end of the city. The Ilosaarirock festival, held in Joensuu for over fifty summers, attracts over 70,000 revellers annually.

In addition to Joensuu, some of the most well-known tourist destinations in our region include Koli National Park, the Bomba area, Valamo Monastery, and the easternmost municipality of Finland, Ilomantsi, with its intriguing attractions.
