Business speeds up as tourists slow down in North Karelia

Tourism business

North Karelia is Finland's easternmost region where visitors are met with a warm welcome, stunning landscapes and lakeland serenity. The Joensuu region offers an excellent setting for tourism business in all four seasons of the year.

Joensuu is a vibrant student city that is names after its location along the river Pielisjoki that joins lake Pyhäselkä at the South edge of the city. With over 70 000 yearly visitors, the international music festival Ilosaari Rock has been filling the city with music lovers for over half a century.

In addition to Joensuu, some of the most popular attractions in the region include Koli national park, Bomba in Nurmes, Valamo monastery and the easternmost municipality of Finland, Ilomantsi.
