An innovation recognized in the Start Me Up business idea competition
In 2024, Hirsiässät Oy's entrepreneur Aleksi Sivonen won the Start Me Up Business Idea Competition in the Tohmajärvi municipality-funded category with his roof mount for connector and junction boxes. This also led to collaboration with the municipality. The innovative business idea is progressing well, and the goal is to commercialize the product in 2025.
Aleksi is especially grateful to Business Joensuu for its support in the product development and commercialization. Professional coaching, extensive questioning, and reviewing the business idea from multiple perspectives have helped him continuously refine the product. The goal is first to evaluate how the roof mount is received in Finland and establish a foothold in the domestic market, after which the focus will shift to the Nordic countries and Central Europe – particularly Germany.
Business Joensuu has been a valuable partner for Hirsiässät Oy. Through business specialist Timo Hartikainen, the company has received excellent support, for example, in preparing funding applications and finding business partners.

Hirsiässät Oy currently employs 3–4 people in log construction, and Aleksi actively participates in daily operations alongside his employees. According to him, his hands-on involvement enables the hiring of new employees and maintains a strong team spirit. Aleksi takes pride in his team’s expertise and craftsmanship, believing that the best business card is flawless work that speaks for itself. His golden rule for success?
